Foundation Announces 2023 Giving

The continued generosity of dedicated donors who participated in our annual golf tournament and dinner/auction fundraising event resulted in a highly successful 29th year of giving for the Caitlin Robb Foundation.  Those event net proceeds, combined with donations unrelated to the Event, allowed the Caitlin Robb Foundation to make $114,808 in gifts in 2023, as follows:

$50,000 to Arizona State University Courage Lab to sustain, enhance and perpetuate efforts to mitigate adverse psychosocial reactions (e.g. heightened anxiety and related conditions) in families caring for a child who experiences the emotional upheaval of life limiting conditions, pediatric cancer and/or sibling death. The Caitlin Robb Foundation has been working closely with Dr. Armando Pina, an Associate Professor in ASU’s Department of Psychology, and the Lab’s Principal Scientist, to grow this innovative initiative both philanthropically and programmatically.  Foundation Gifts to the Courage Lab to date now total $120,000 and total gifts to ASU now total $257,000.

$50,000 to Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSKCC) to satisfy the 5th year of a 5-year $250,000 commitment to support the research of Dr. Nai-Kong V. Cheung, a pioneer in the development of antibody-based therapies against neuroblastoma and other solid tumor pediatric cancers. MSK Kids, the pediatric division of MSKCC, is the largest pediatric oncology program in the country and treats more children with neuroblastoma than any other hospital nationwide.  Foundation gifts to MSKCC since our inception now total $387,000.

$7,500 to Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central and Northern Arizona (RMHCAZ) to underwrite 70 nights of rest, free-of-charge, for families caring for a child diagnosed with cancer who is receiving specialized care at a Valley area hospital. Foundation gifts to RMHC since our inception total $156,000 of which $104,000 was contributed to RMHCAZ and $52,000 to the Wilmington, Delaware House.

$5,000 to Tu Nidito to support the Pathways and Angels On Your Side Programs.  The Pathways program, at no cost to those served, provides individualized home, hospital and community-based support to children who are diagnosed with a serious medical condition and their families. The Angels On Your Side program supports families with personalized services when end-of-life care is needed.  Foundation gifts to Tu Nidito since our inception total $96,500.

$2,308 (year-to-date) for Direct Patient and Family assistance.  The Caitlin Robb Foundation works with hospital social workers and social service organizations to provide financial help with day-to-day living expenses (e.g. travel, rent, mortgage, utilities) to help ease the financial burden to families that a pediatric cancer diagnosis often causes.
